Family Ties

The main reason for this trip has been reconnecting with the various branches of my family and it has been nothing short of amazing. I've met nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, 2nd and 3rd cousins and distant relatives some members that I haven't seen in over 20 years and even some I am just meeting for the first time.  The more I hear the stories, the more I am proud to come from a rich and complicated heritage. With family in every part of the world I literally could land in any city, look them up and be invited to a true Malaysian dinner. Which we have enjoyed many of so far.
I have never doubted that keeping in touch with family is important, but the more I hear stories from the older generations the more I want to preserve this heritage. Looks like we need to start documenting some of this properly! Someone described it not as a a family tree, but a family bush - so appropriate when your great-grandparents had multiple wives!!! Just one of the many stories that I want to keep alive.
